The growth of the nasal concha, medically known as concha hypertrophy, is the abnormal growth and swelling of the tissues called concha (nasal concha) inside the nose. This can lead to symptoms such as nasal congestion, breathing difficulties and sinus problems. Concha hypertrophy usually develops as a result of inflammation of the nasal mucosa or allergies, but other factors can also be effective.
Symptoms:
Constant nasal congestion
Difficulty breathing
Runny nose
Headache
Sleep problems (e.g. snoring)
Sinusitis or upper respiratory tract infections
Treatment Methods:
Drug Therapy: Concha hypertrophy is usually treated with medications such as nasal sprays and antihistamines. These medications can reduce inflammation and swelling.
Saline Inhalation: Nasal irrigation with salt water can be done to thin and clean the mucus in the nose.
Surgery: If drug therapy is not sufficient, surgical intervention may be required. Turbinate reduction surgery widens the nasal passages and facilitates breathing by removing excess turbinate tissue. This procedure is usually performed under local anesthesia and is performed using minimally invasive methods.
Healing Process:
There may be mild swelling and discomfort in the nose after surgery. Full recovery usually takes a few weeks. During this time, it is important to clean the nose and follow the doctor's recommendations.
